Ho Ho Holiday Nails
Pin It
My holiday nails match one of the lime green feather's on my tree..and yes..I did this myself...and I am going to show you how..Most of you that know me, know that I am not only the queen of clean eating.... you also know I am the queen of yard sales, thrift stores, reusing, recycling and bargains!
So..I am going to post some things on how to look good, stylish and healthy..but do it all yourself.
I get a lot of nail polishes on clearance and at yard sales. I have had a lot of people ask me how I do that to my nails all the time...so here it is girls :D
This is the best thing ever...the konad stamp kit
...but wait..they now have a cheaper off versions on amazon and they are soooooo cool.
Here is one I just got and ordered off amazon..it has 25 plates and more designs than you can imagine!! You can also add the double ended stamper and scraper for $2.50!
The deal is..you can use about any nail polish (the thicker the better) swipe it on the design on the plate, scrape off excess polish, press stamp over it in a rolling motion, roll on to your nail! Looks like professionally done nails!! I love it and I change it up all the time. There are lots of good blogs and design ideas out there. I google nail art stamp ideas all the time. Here is how I did my holiday nails...

Fishing for a dinner idea???
Fish is so good for you. I don't like fishy fish and I am very particular what kinds I eat due to that. Below is an article from the mayo clinic about why fish is so good for you and what kind of fish to avoid.
Here is a dinner idea. Ingles in Kingsport now has a new sea food department with lots of choices and wild fish instead of farm raised.
This is wild mahi mahi with quinoa wild rice and broccoli..it is so quick and easy and healthy!!

I like this one from Charleston..you can use lemon pepper and garlic salt or fresh garlic to achieve the same effect
Squeeze a lemon over them
these are two quick and healthy side items..bought at ingles..they are both microwave dishes :D

Fish contain unsaturated fatty acids, which, when substituted for saturated fatty acids such as those in meat, may lower your cholesterol. But the main beneficial nutrient appears to be omega-3 fatty acids in fatty fish. Omega-3 fatty acids are a type of unsaturated fatty acid that's thought to reduce inflammation throughout the body. Inflammation in the body can damage your blood vessels and lead to heart disease.
Omega-3 fatty acids may decrease triglycerides, lower blood pressure, reduce blood clotting, boost immunity and improve arthritis symptoms, and in children may improve learning ability. Eating one to two servings a week of fish, particularly fish that's rich in omega-3 fatty acids, appears to reduce the risk of heart disease. Some fish, such as tilapia and catfish, don't appear to be as heart healthy because they contain higher levels of unhealthy fatty acids. Keep in mind that any fish can be unhealthy depending on how it's prepared. For example, broiling or baking fish is a healthier option than is deep-frying.
Some researchers are concerned about eating fish produced on farms as opposed to wild-caught fish. Researchers think antibiotics, pesticides and other chemicals used in raising farmed fish may have harmful effects to people who eat the fish.Thursday, December 1, 2011
Eat Clean Whole Wheat Rolls
My aunt Gerry has a wonderful old recipe from her mother for some good ole homemade rolls. The recipe includes crisco, white sugar, and white flour..so I cleaned it up and they are still wonderful!!
1 package instant yeast
1 1/2 cup lukewarm water
1/3 cup honey or sucanat sugar
1/2 coconut oil or olive oil
1 heaping tsp of sea salt
4 cups whole wheat flour (for those who grind their own I used a soft white/hard white mix)
Dissolve yeast packet in warm water. Add honey, oil, and salt. Add flour one cup at a time and stir well. Let rise in a warm place for about 1 1/2 hours. Place on floured surface and roll out. Cut with biscuit cutter. Rub a bit of oil on both sides and place on baking pan. Spread a pat on butter in the middle and fold in half. Make sure to pinch the edge tight. Let rise about one hour. Bake at 400 about 12-15 min or until done.
